My top 5 destinations in the World

This week I accepted the challenge proposed by Booked.net — Top Destinations to Go There, in which I had to pick 5 destinations I previously visited and recommend them to you.

I have to confess that it was very hard to make up my mind when choosing from so many wonderful places. However, it is with great happiness that I here share with you my final decision, the 5 places I would always go back to, places that have inspired me somehow and that helped me make unforgettable memories while I was there.

So here are my top 5 destinations in the World…

5.Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm by Packing my Suitcase

I see Stockholm as a kind of a fairytale city. The architecture is so special, the people is so welcoming, the old town is charmingly inviting, where you see water and boats mostly everywhere, restaurants that provide you with amazing gourmet experiences, a green and romantic city. Full of history, tradition and culture, Stockholm is a place to be enjoyed without moderation; for the Europeans a perfect weekend getaway, for others a stop to be included on the tour. To enjoy the city at its best visit it during summer and fall.

4.Jericoacoara, Brazil

This secluded beach is located on the Northeast of Brazil, approximately 7 hours from Fortaleza, the Capital of the State Ceará. Getting there is a long way, you will need to take a bus and then you will have to drive with a local truck known as “Jardineira”, an adventure I must say. Arrive there and expect no more than relaxing and enjoying nature at its best by spending your day on the beach drinking coconut water, driving 4×4 Quads and riding with a buggy on the dunes, kite-surfing, laying on a hammock on the water, and at night enjoy a fresh-made local caipirinha on the beach under the moonlight. Jeri has become a very popular destination in past years, and has been praised as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. A place worth returning to, although is quite a hassle to get there.

3.Paris, France

Paris, France by Packing my Suitcase

They say “Paris is always a good idea”. Who said that again? So true! I have lived in Paris and visited the city a few times, and I can never get enough of it. So much history, so much charm, so much to do and visit, so much to learn and discover, so much to taste and live; Paris can offer it all. Every corner of the city has a story; many restaurants, bars and hotels are there for over a century; the bridges experienced the time that passed by; the museums represent only a part of the extensive Parisian History. Paris is Paris, is always a good idea, at any time, season and occasion.

2.Galapagos Islands, Equator

Galapagos Islands, by Packing my Suitcase

The most unforgettable adventure I ever experienced in my life was on these islands, while I was a reforestation volunteer at the San Cristóbal Island. I have never seen nature as I did at the Galapagos: where volcanoes meet the ocean, iguanas and sea lions are everywhere to be seen, where blue-footed birds are often around, where snorkeling with sea turtles, sharks and penguins is possible, where you can hike through a volcano, and where you will feel like you never want to leave. If you ever feel lost, go find yourself on the Galapagos Islands, you will not only find yourself but also get to know a part of you that you never met before.

1.Maldives

Diamonds Thudufushi, Maldives. By Packing my Suitcase

Heaven on earth, the Maldives is the most beautiful place I have ever been to. My eyes could not believe that turquoise water and all the marine life found in it. No matter how sunny or rainy the day might be, you will find a way to appreciate the nature of this place as it is. Diving, snorkeling, reading a book by the sea, listening to the waves, looking at the stars, sleeping under the sun or the moon, taking a boat trip: the Maldives are the perfect movie scenario, a movie that you will feel part of.

I visited these places in different times of my life, during my exchange program as a High School student, with friends and family, during my honeymoon or when I was simply trying to find myself. Traveling helps you learn that the world is there to be discovered and to be taken care of, keep packing your suitcases!
